FAQs

Where is EMS located?

EMS sits in beautiful Bandu, Chiangrai Province, Thailand. It is a short drive from downtown Chiangrai and an hour from the border with Myanmar (Burma). While all of Thailand boasts a quite exotic climate, Chiangrai enjoys more temperate weather than Southern Thailand.

How long is the EMS program?

The EMS program runs in 9-month "schools" from September to May.

What is EMS's school calendar?

EMS emphasizes studies and practical application. Our school calendar tries to emphasize these values, as well. The English Language School follows a 4-day school week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), allowing for one day (Wednesday) of practical missions internship and a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of rest. Classes run in five-week increments (units).

What benefits do teachers receive? Are teachers paid?

Because EMS seeks to keep costs low for the missionaries that we train, we do not charge students a salary for their teachers. Thus, all of our teachers work on a volunteer basis. EMS does, however, provide member care for all our teachers.

What is the cost for students?

The cost for students varies according to their enrollment as a family or a single student. For full details, please see our Tuition & Costs page.

Which vaccinations are recommended for living in Thailand?

EMS requires students and their children to be vaccinated. Currently, we ask students to be vaccinated for Japanese Encephalitis and Dengue Fever, in addition to regular vaccinations.
