Why Thailand?

With so many nations in need of the Gospel message, why is EMS located in Thailand?

Let us give you three main reasons.

1) First, Thailand provides access to many other Southeastern Asian nations. Chiangrai (EMS's host city) is part of the Golden Triangle, where three significantly under-reached countries border one another: Thailand, Myanmar (Burma), and Laos. This makes it an ideal location for outreach within Southeast Asia.

2) Second, the country of Thailand itself presents ample opportunities for missions work. Though Thailand has been open to missionaries for many years, it remains a predominately Buddhist country, with over 90% of Thai people adhering to Buddhism. As the last major city in northwestern Thailand, the city of Chiangrai boasts a diverse populace. Tribal people (Akha, Karen, Hmong, etc.), as well as Thai nationals, make their homes in this city and its surrounding towns.

3) Third, the cost of living is relatively low in Thailand. This enables EMS to provide a very affordable option for studying English and missions while living abroad.

God is wanting to equip missionaries to reach out to all nations, and we believe that our location is a wonderful tool for effectively reaching Southeast Asia in an immediate way and the rest of the world through the missionaries that we train and send.
